Wild Wood Film Screening and Workshop

Looking for a family-friendly morning of art, nature and adventure? Join us for a free screening of popular kid’s movie “The Gruffalo”. Make a day of it by registering for the Educator-led workshop in BMO World of Creativity: Wild Wood, where we’ll get creative in hands-on activities inspired by the movie.

Registration is required for both events. Workshop spaces are limited to 25 kids. Film tickets are free and the workshop registration fee is $15.

 

Film Screening - The Gruffalo (9:30-10:00 am)

This enchanting film tells the story of a mouse who goes in search of a nut. Along the way, he is confronted by three hungry animals who each think that the mouse looks good! Forced to rely on his wits for survival, Mouse invents an imaginary monster to scare them away, but what happens when he comes face to face with his own creation?

This Oscar and Bafta nominated half hour special premiered in the UK on BBC One Christmas Day 2009 to 10m viewers and continues to be enjoyed by families worldwide.

Wild Wood workshop (10:00-11:30 am)
Ages 5 to 8

Join local actor and art educator Sophie Gareau-Brennan in the BMO World of Creativity for a theatrical exploration of our current exhibition Wild Wood. Following a FREE screening of the Gruffalo in the Ledcor Theatre, this workshop build on themes of adventure, overcoming adversity and bravery through story and character development, culminating in a short performative tableau.

This film and workshop are held in conjunction with BMO World of Creativity: Wild Wood, an interactive, hands-on space where children and their grown-ups can explore their creativity.
