We also acknowledge the many Indigenous, Inuit and Métis people who make Alberta their home today.

Art Cart Saturday

Saturdays, 1pm-3pm
May 6-Jun 24, 2023

Join us on Churchill Square for art explorations and fun! Each week, we explore new art materials and techniques! It’s FREE! All are welcome and all materials are included.

May 6 | Artist Trading Cards

Inspired by the Oilers’ playoff run, work in watercolour and drawing media to illustrate a series of artist trading cards inspired by your favorite sports or summer activities. Stay in the square and watch the game at 5 pm!

May 13 | My Place

Inspired by a personal memory of place, create a relief sculpture that pops!

May 20 | Assert & Obliterate

Using a range of drawing materials, create an expressive drawing where mistakes and successes are equally celebrated!

May 27 | Painted Portraits

Before the invention of the camera, patrons would commission artists to capture their likenesses. Play with colour mixing and texture to create an original selfie or portrait of a friend.

Jun 3 | Watercolour Experiments

Learn the basics of this water-based medium, experiment with techniques, and then work like scores of artists to capture a corner of Churchill Square en plein air!

Jun 17 | Art Games

Games are for artists too! Learn some delightful new ways to play and create including an exquisite corpse, automatic drawings, and a ‘Cubomania’ collage!

Jun 24 | Fleeting Moments

In our last session in the square, we’ll create a reductive print that captures the fleeting moments of summer.
