About the exhibition
Temporal brings together the photography of Alison Rossiter and the sculpture of Catherine Burgess. Burgess carves delicate shapes out of thin air and plays with perception. Rossiter uses expired photo paper to create abstract works that encapsulate vast timescales between when the antique photo paper expired when she exposed it. In both artists’ work, there is play between absence and presence and a pull between the actual and the illusory. Temporal both concretizes and dissolves notions of time and space.
This exhibition is organized by the Art Gallery of Alberta and curated by Catherine Crowston and Lindsey Sharman.
