My name is Rashad and I am a grade 10 student living in Sherwood Park. I wanted to depict an outgoing and harmonic community in this art piece, as well as capture the feel of living in a large bustling city like Edmonton.

My work is often compared to the vintage 'paint by number' kits many of us completed as children, but I like to think of my pieces as abstracted reality portraits. I break down reference photographs by isolating lines and shapes, then build the portraits up with hundreds of individually mixed colors. So, while this chocolate lab may seem a little less obviously purple from a distance, trust me when I say that there are dozens of purples sprinkled throughout this piece.
