The Art Gallery of Alberta respectfully acknowledges that we are located in Treaty 6 Territory and Region 4 of the Metis Nation of Alberta. We respect this as the traditional and contemporary  land of diverse Indigenous Peoples including the Plains Cree, Woodland Cree, Beaver Cree, Nitsitapi/Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Anishinaabe/Saulteaux/Ojibwe and Dene Peoples. We also acknowledge the many Indigenous, Inuit and Métis people who make Alberta their home today.

AGA Legacy Makers

Paint the path for the next generation!

Did you know that making a charitable bequest through your will is simple but impactful to charitable organizations? It allows you to leave a larger gift than otherwise possible.

Legacy Makers of the Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) support artists and the visual arts through planned gifts. They inspire real change—from supporting our programming and exhibitions today, to empowering our ability to offer access to the arts and life-changing community programming for generations to come.

Legacy gifts are flexible and can be designed to best fit the needs of you and your family, all while offering positive long-term tax benefits for the future.

Key Benefits of Legacy Gifts

For You: For the AGA:
  • Tax advantages assist your beneficiaries and loved ones.
  • You support future generations.
  • Legacy gifts are flexible: you can tailor your gifts in a way that is meaningful for you and your family
  • The Legacy Makers program helps the AGA continue providing meaningful, engaging and thought-provoking exhibitions, education and programming.
  • It helps us grow our collections for future generations to enjoy.

Plan for your Family while Making an Impact

When planning a future gift, it is sometimes difficult to determine what size of a donation that will fit your plans and best meet the needs of your family. Including a bequest of a percentage of your estate ensures that your gift will remain proportionate no matter how your estate’s value fluctuates over the years, while ensuring that the portion of your estate intended for your family and loved ones stays consistent.

 Make your Planned Gift today!

Leaving a gift to the Art Gallery of Alberta in your will is simple.   Speak to your lawyer about drafting or revising your will or adding a codicil. Here is some sample wording to reference:

  • I give the Art Gallery of Alberta Society, charitable number 11923 0902 RR 0001, ____ per cent of the residue of my estate (or the sum of $____)

  • Share the details of the gift you would like to make with us confidentially with this Planned Gift Confirmation Form. Letting us know that you have made a bequest allows us the opportunity to thank you today and ensure that your gift can make the impact you wish for the future.
