Are you between the ages of 13-17? Are you interested in the arts and making an impact in your community?
Join the AGA Youth Council!
The AGA Youth Council is part of an ongoing initiative to develop youth audiences at the Art Gallery of Alberta. Working closely with museum professionals, interested youth participate in the decision making and creation of a brave space for youth to explore, experiment and express themselves through the arts. Consequently, AGA is better positioned to develop meaningful experiences and opportunities for youth to engage with art, their own creative practices and their community.
The Art Gallery of Alberta is currently seeking applications from local youth (aged 13-17) for a volunteer committee assisting in the development of youth programming at the AGA. Duties for this position include: exploring ways to assist the AGA in connecting with youth and identifying their unique needs and desires; participating and developing programming for teens including Teen Night; and succession planning for Studio Y and the AGA Youth Council. The commitment for this position is 20 hours per month of volunteer time and includes council meetings, sub-committee meetings, planning and delivery of events, attendance at events and email correspondence.
Benefits of participating on the AGA Youth Council include: opportunities to meet new friends, foster new skills, receive mentorship from art professionals, work with artists, gain valuable experience, and develop as a leader.
DEADLINE to apply is September 17th, 2021 at 5pm. First meeting scheduled for first week of October.
We have limited seats available. Only applicants that have been accepted onto the council will be contacted.
