Don’t forget to join Nikhat Quereshi for a peaceful calligraphy-based art making activity.

Bios

Cynthia Hamar is a Métis singer-songwriter from Canada with 3 full length albums to date. Hamar's most recent album "The Son and I" like the title suggests is a collaborative effort between Hamar and her 18 year old son Zadok. " The Son & I " was recorded in Edmonton, AB, mastered by Alex Wharton at Abbey Roads Studios and was released to radio spring 2016 where it has charted on numerous college radio stations across Canada and the US as well as acquired TV licenses with TLC, Discovery Network and a TV show set to air fall 2017.

A genre-bending performer, Von Bieker’s music may best be called ‘Alternative Folk,’ with influences ranging from Radiohead to Glen Hansard; Bahamas to Hall and Oates; Cockburn to Cohen. Expect a blend of atmospheric originals and well-curated covers. Also expect a bowtie. Von Bieker plays regularly in Edmonton and has hosted open stages and produced local shows, working with dozens of musicians, visual artists, and writers. His second EP, Where The Love Comes Easy, was released April 29, 2017 and is available wherever fine music is sold or streamed.

Painting inspirations and reflections, Nikhat takes her creativity as a means to express the connection of her thoughts with an unseen soulful world. As an explorer of Islamic Art and an award-winning visual Artist & Calligrapher, Nikhat briefly studied the basics of Nastaliq script of Calligraphy under the tutelage of a non-traditional calligraphy master from Pakistan. She learned the Thuluth Script from the master calligrapher in Canada. With her own contemporary approach, she enjoys combining traditional styles and techniques of writing scripts. Her work has been displayed at art shows and exhibitions in Pakistan and USA. Nikhat served as the Executive Director of Islamic Art Revival Series (2012-2014) in Dallas Texas, whose dual mission is to bring awareness and exposure to Islamic Art and to build cultural bridges between the Islamic world and North America. IARS is now a program of Texas Muslim Women's Foundation.
