Dean Drever, Double Mask, 2013. Lacquer on fiberglass. Art Gallery of Alberta Collection, gift of Miriam Shiell.
In celebration of the first day of the exhibition, we invite you to join us on January 21 for a tour of exhibition In Black and White with artist Dean Drever. This tour will feature information about the artwork on display and give you a behind-the-scenes perspective on this exhibition. In Black and White is a timely exhibition featuring a broad selection of Drever’s work, which have been created solely in black and white. Often utilizing images and symbols of white male power and authority, in Drever’s work, black and white speak to the drive for power and control, and define two opposing sides or two ways of viewing the same thing.
You can participate in this hour-long program in person by registering in advance, or by joining us in the third floor gallery. Registration is recommended though not needed. The price of this program is included in general admission to the gallery. Admission to the AGA is free for students/youth and AGA members.
This exhibition is organized by the Art Gallery of Alberta, curated by Catherine Crowston and presented by the Capital Power Indigenous Arts Fund.
