The Art Gallery of Alberta respectfully acknowledges that we are located in Treaty 6 Territory and Region 4 of the Metis Nation of Alberta. We respect this as the traditional and contemporary  land of diverse Indigenous Peoples including the Plains Cree, Woodland Cree, Beaver Cree, Nitsitapi/Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Anishinaabe/Saulteaux/Ojibwe and Dene Peoples. We also acknowledge the many Indigenous, Inuit and Métis people who make Alberta their home today.

Curator’s Tour of 'Inheritance' by Lindsey Sharman

Location
In-person and Online

Join us for a curator’s tour of the exhibition Inheritance by Lindsey Sharman at the Art Gallery of Alberta on April 21st at 5:30pm.  The exhibition Inheritance forefronts historical facts that are often hidden or untold because they reveal that our shared past includes, and is based on, acts and systems of brutality, racism and oppression. Told by artists through research into the lives of family members and familial connections, the works in Inheritance demonstrate that history continues to reverberate through time, impacting the present and future. This tour will examine the work in the exhibition by Deana Bowen, Steven Nunoda, Adrian Stimson, with a book by AA Bronson.

You can participate in this hour-long program both in-person and online through watching our Zoom livestream. Registration is encouraged for guests attending in person, due to the space limitations, number of guests is limited. We will keep a small number of tickets available at the door. This curator’s talk is included in the price of general admission to the gallery or free for members. The livestream of the curator’s talk is free and will require advance registration as well. After the curator’s talk there will be time for a live Q&A with the audience.

Thank you to the Canada Council for the Arts for sponsoring the virtual portion of this program. This exhibition is curated by Lindsey Sharman sponsored by Capital Power as part of their Capital Powered Art program.
