The Art Gallery of Alberta respectfully acknowledges that we are located in Treaty 6 Territory and Region 4 of the Metis Nation of Alberta. We respect this as the traditional and contemporary  land of diverse Indigenous Peoples including the Plains Cree, Woodland Cree, Beaver Cree, Nitsitapi/Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Anishinaabe/Saulteaux/Ojibwe and Dene Peoples. We also acknowledge the many Indigenous, Inuit and Métis people who make Alberta their home today.

Darcy Hoover

EDMONTON, AB  |  Darcy's work is infused with the longing for the story behind the image and is influenced by centuries of women's experience with craft and art, and the guarded divide between the two. She finds her inspiration in Edmonton's historical, social and geographic landscape. Her common themes are natural Alberta, childhood, and iconic representation of women.

Although she is a multidisciplinary artist, Darcy has a special love of fibre arts. Her fibre work includes embroidery, felting, weaving, and rughooking. She also paints, sculpts and has been teaching needlecraft classes for the past two years. She is a member of the Edmonton Needlecraft Guild and Sculptors' Association of Alberta. Her studio, In Her Own Image, is a sunny, garden-adjacent addition to her Edmonton home.
