EDMONTON, AB | Alex began his journey in craft at an early age while cooking on a wood stove with cast iron. He was amazed by the cooking capabilities and longevity of the cookware and decided to start making his own out of metal and casting them with sand.
Self-taught, with the support of local foundries and retired makers, he only uses traditional sand-casting techniques and high-quality materials. Over the years, he has perfected his moulds and has become known for his pans which feature higher walls and a heavier weight than conventional cast iron. This allows for better retention of heat. The insides are machined to create a flat, smooth surface.
The unique seal on the bottom of every pan is a nod to his wife - Trillianne Cast Iron comes from her name, Joanne, and that she is "one in a trillion."
