ZINC and the Art Gallery of Alberta named top event venue by Consumer’s Choice Award voters

Edmonton, AB (September 28, 2015)- ZINC, a restaurant operated by Compass Group Canada and located at the Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA), will be presented with the 2015 Consumer’s Choice Event Venue award at tonight’s Consumer’s Choice awards ceremony. Each year across Canada, Consumer Choice Award gathers the opinions, perceptions and expectations of consumers in order to determine award recipients.

Established in 1987, the selection process of Consumer’s Choice has been perfected with a third party research firm to ensure that only the most outstanding service providers are the winners within an industry. This is the only organization in North America to recognize business excellence by conducting a research that surveys both the consumer and business community. Consumer Choice Award recipients are not selected by a panel of judges, but are chosen by the consumer. Only the top-ranked businesses selected are awarded the Consumer Choice Award.

“It’s an honour to be chosen by both our customers and the business community for this award,” said David Smith, vice president of operations, Compass Group Canada. “There are so many amazing venues and for ZINC at AGA to be chosen as Best Event Venue is a true testament to our innovative food design as well as the outstanding staff who operate, run and maintain this great space.”

The AGA re-opened its doors in January 2010. Since its opening, the venue has hosted over 1,500 events in their unique and beautiful event spaces. The ZINC team has had the privilege of contributing to many special occasions, including weddings, corporate receptions, media events, product launches, holiday parties and more. The dynamic structure of zinc, glass and steel, designed by Los Angeles architect Randall Stout, takes inspiration from Edmonton's unique northern environment and urban grid. Each event space is unique in its own way, from private meeting spaces, to contemporary banquet rooms, an in-house auditorium and a stunning 60-seat restaurant, the Art Gallery of Alberta offers a venue that is truly diverse and exceptional in every way. ZINC is the exclusive food and beverage supplier at the AGA.

Zinc is a fast rising Compass Group Canada property that is carrying on in the tradition of other Compass Leisure & Entertainment teams by working hard to exceed the expectations of clients and customers alike. ZINC has won various acknowledgements, including Top 10 Restaurants in Canada, WHERE Magazine, 2010; Wedding Venue of the Year, Blush Magazine, 2011; Event Management Award for Venue of the Year, 2011; 2014 Canadian Wedding Industry Awards:  Best Overall Caterer (AB); 2014 Canadian Wedding Industry Awards: Best Alternative Reception Venue & Best Ceremony Venue (AB).
