Give the gift of your time to help run programs and events

Volunteers are a valued and important part of the AGA. Through their work we are able to raise money to:

  • maintain the galleries, exhibition and education programming
  • deliver the highest level of excellence in our education programming
  • steward donors
  • create positive AGA memories
  • support all of the work the AGA offers to our community

We ask that volunteers commit 30 hours per calendar year to the AGA.

Once volunteers have completed 30 hours of service in a year, they are entitled to receive a complimentary individual membership.

The minimum age for volunteering at the AGA is 16.

Volunteers have the opportunity to work in a variety of areas in the gallery.

All volunteers with the AGA are required to undergo a police security check.

    Special Events

Special Event volunteers will volunteer at the variety of different special events we hold throughout the year. These special events range from free Gallery days to formal gala fundraisers. Volunteer roles will be based on each event individually but generally include:

    • greeting
    • checking memberships

Our Education department hosts a large variety of registered classes, drop-in classes and camps. Education volunteers work with the Educators to support the classes and camps. Volunteer tasks include:

There are so many events and programs going on at the AGA! The marketing department has the task of spreading all this information around Edmonton and Alberta. Volunteer tasks range based on the marketing initiatives. Regularly volunteers support:
