RED DEER, AB | Brian Mcathur & Dawn Detarando create decorative ceramic works depicting Canada's flora, fauna and history. Using clay made in Alberta, and formulating their own glazes, they have created a wide variety of hand-carved tiles. They also collaborate in large-scale public art installations. In Edmonton, their most recognizable work is "Immense Mode." These are well known as the giant pair of brick legs measuring 20 feet tall and located at the Southgate LRT Station.
Brian and Dawn have won numerous accoldates, including the 2011 Lieutenant Governor's Emerging Artist Award.
