The Art Gallery of Alberta respectfully acknowledges that we are located in Treaty 6 Territory and Region 4 of the Metis Nation of Alberta. We respect this as the traditional and contemporary  land of diverse Indigenous Peoples including the Plains Cree, Woodland Cree, Beaver Cree, Nitsitapi/Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Anishinaabe/Saulteaux/Ojibwe and Dene Peoples. We also acknowledge the many Indigenous, Inuit and Métis people who make Alberta their home today.

Christine Causing

Christine Causing with Bates artwork   Bates "Eroded Land"

“I love this expressionist painting by Maxwell Bates especially the way the colours and textures both compliment and contrast each other. Every brushstroke on the canvas is so unique and shapes this gorgeous painting that Bates created. The AGA's permanent collection has such wonderful surprises, there's always a painting or piece of art that captures my attention. And, when I visit the AGA with my little ones, they love to discover and explore the gallery spaces and are fascinated with all the different artworks on the walls.”

Christine Causing is the Coordinator for Edmonton's NextGen Initiative at the City of Edmonton. She helps bring together young community and civic leaders and volunteers who work together to connect people, places, communities, and ideas through community and civic building projects and events.

Christine currently is on the AGA's Art on the Block Planning Committee. And in 2008, she was part of the Cultural Plan Steering Committee that helped create Edmonton's Cultural Plan, The Art of Living. This plan continues to be used today to help create and sustain Edmonton's arts community.

Her other full time job, which she absolutely loves, is raising her daughters Sloane and Zaira.
