The Art Gallery of Alberta respectfully acknowledges that we are located in Treaty 6 Territory and Region 4 of the Metis Nation of Alberta. We respect this as the traditional and contemporary  land of diverse Indigenous Peoples including the Plains Cree, Woodland Cree, Beaver Cree, Nitsitapi/Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Anishinaabe/Saulteaux/Ojibwe and Dene Peoples. We also acknowledge the many Indigenous, Inuit and Métis people who make Alberta their home today.

Location
In person and Online

Please join the artists and co-curators of the installation ᓂᐲᐩ ᐊᐦᒐᕽ - nipîy ahcahk - Water Spirit in a conversational exchange. Completing the circle of the wisdom between kihtêhayak (Elders) and the diverse youth from Treaty Six, the Water Spirit Water Dialogue is an opportunity for the artists to exchange profound multi-generational teachings about water. You are invited to witness this exchange.

The installation Water Spirit, co-curated by Wanda Dalla Costa and Lana Whiskeyjack (both from the Saddle Lake Cree Nation), is part of the exhibition Water-Wise, River Breath: Reframing design’s role with water on view at the Poole Centre of Design at the AGA from April 2nd until August 1, 2022.

You can participate in this hour-long program both in-person and online through watching our Zoom livestream. Due to nature of this program registration is required in advance. We will keep a small number of tickets available at the door as well. This discussion is included in the price of general admission to the gallery or free for members. The livestream of the artist talk is free and will require advance registration as well.
