The Art Gallery of Alberta respectfully acknowledges that we are located in Treaty 6 Territory and Region 4 of the Metis Nation of Alberta. We respect this as the traditional and contemporary  land of diverse Indigenous Peoples including the Plains Cree, Woodland Cree, Beaver Cree, Nitsitapi/Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Anishinaabe/Saulteaux/Ojibwe and Dene Peoples. We also acknowledge the many Indigenous, Inuit and Métis people who make Alberta their home today.

Animal Architects

Sponsored by

Due to Covid-19 precautions, the children’s gallery Animal Architects is currently limited to one family per day. Please book ahead of your visit to reserve a day for you and your family to enjoy time in this gallery. This booking is included in the cost of General Admission.

Animal Architects is inspired by the designed structures of insects, mammals and birds and the evolution of these structures over time and space. This exhibition invites families to explore the ongoing and compounding changes animals and humans have on their surroundings and the legacy of this transformation across generations and into the future.

Discover the creative habits and building behaviours of animals through their unique dwellings, structures and habitats. Hunt for visual clues and puzzles, build your own architectural sculpture, read a story, and add to our collaborative weaving.

The Children's Gallery is an interactive, hands-on space where children and their grown-ups can explore their creativity. Exhibitions and themes change from year-to-year. Presented as part of the Poole Centre of Design program.
