Pride Day at the AGA

Join us on Saturday, June 18 for a full day of fun celebrating Pride and the LGBTQ2SIA community.

We will be painting the AGA rainbow with art activities for all, giant colouring for the kids, music, drag performances and two film screenings—all included in the general admission!

We will be screening Love Simon at 12:30pm in English, and Tomboy in French with English subtitles at 3pm.

At 2pm and 3pm we will be joined by Etherea Cree for a fun drag show in the lobby of the AGA.

In addition, we will be joined by a number of community organizations who will be onsite to further animate the day.

All galleries will be open, including the newly opened Comic Sans exhibition, which celebrates Canadian comic book artists. Make sure to check our current exhibition page to learn more.

We hope you can join us!

About the films

Love Simon (PG Course Language): Everyone deserves a great love story. But for Simon it's complicated: no one knows he's gay and he doesn't know who the anonymous classmate is that he's fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, scary and life-changing.

Tomboy (PG) is a 2011 French drama written and directed by Céline Sciamma. The story follows a 10-year-old gender non-conforming child, Laure, who moves to a new neighborhood during the summer holiday and experiments with their gender presentation, adopting the name Mickaël as they make friends with the local kids.

Both films are open to all. Please note that Love Simon and Tomboy are rated PG, which means anyone under the age of 14 needs to be joined by an adult. People who are over the age 14 do not need parental guidance. There is no food or drink, including bottled water, inside the theatre.

Pride Month programming is organized by the AGA Public Programmer, Michael Magnussen. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. Michael.Magnussen@youraga.ca
