Film Night - Asian Heritage Month | 'Cutie and the Boxer' and 'Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry'

In recognition of Asian Heritage Month, we are screening two documentaries featuring artists Ushio and Noriko Shinohara and Ai Weiwei. Join us on Thursday, May 9, 2024, for this special double feature at 6pm and 7:30pm in our Ledcor Theatre.

6pm | Cutie and the Boxer (2013, 82 Minutes)  

Cutie and the Boxer is a candid New York love story exploring the chaotic 40-year marriage of famed boxing painter Ushio Shinohara and his wife, Noriko. Anxious to shed her role as her overbearing husband's assistant, Noriko finds an identity of her own. 

This film is 82 minutes, rating 14A  

7:30pm | Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry (2012, 91 Minutes) 

Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry documents the life of Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei. He is among the world’s most celebrated contemporary artists. His sculptures, photographs, installations, and public artworks often repurpose traditional Chinese forms and materials to address today’s most pressing social concerns. 

This film is 91 minutes, rating 14A
