Refinery: The Palm Room

Gather 'round, all you dolls and owls! The AGA is throwin' a bee's knees bash, inviting you into the past as we raise a toast to our centennial history!

Why "Palm Room"? Back in 1924, the Edmonton Museum of Arts (now the AGA) kicked off its debut exhibition in the ritzy Palm Room of the Hotel MacDonald. On March 23, 2024, join us at the AGA for THE must-attend bash of the year!

This Refinery is all about channeling the spirit of those roarin’ '20s. We're talking ‘bout the inaugural Edmonton Symphony Orchestra performance in '20, the end of prohibition in '24, and the first-ever talkies hitting the Capitol Theater in '28. Get ready for a night of sensational live music, throwback talkies on the big screen, and sultry special performances in swanky lounges throughout the Gallery.

Slap on your glad rags: draw inspiration from the luxury of the Palm Room, the glitz of the speakeasy, or the casual leisure of an afternoon at the theater. Whether you're itching to cut the rug, craft a keepsake, or just kick back and soak in iconic exhibitions, Refinery guarantees to be the cat's meow, a party 100 years in the makin'! Don't miss out on the razzle-dazzle, it's gonna be the swankiest soirée in town!
