August is Ohpahowipîsim, the flying up moon. In this workshop participants will create a porcupine quill pendant using their unique constellation zodiac sign.
Quillwork is the oldest form of art for the Sioux tribes and exclusive to North America. The porcupine quills are collected, cleaned and dyed using natural or commercial dye. The quill is then wrapped, woven or embroidered on the hide.
This workshop is taught by Alaynee Goodwill-Littlechild.
