The Art Gallery of Alberta respectfully acknowledges that we are located in Treaty 6 Territory and Region 4 of the Metis Nation of Alberta. We respect this as the traditional and contemporary  land of diverse Indigenous Peoples including the Plains Cree, Woodland Cree, Beaver Cree, Nitsitapi/Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Anishinaabe/Saulteaux/Ojibwe and Dene Peoples. We also acknowledge the many Indigenous, Inuit and Métis people who make Alberta their home today.

Drag 101 with Stretcher H.

Join Stretcher H., Alberta’s reigning Drag Superstar, to uncover your hidden drag king or drag queen persona. Experiment with makeup, come up with a name and draw out a costume design for your new drag character.

This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone looking to learn more about the art of drag, its history and dive into a personal journey to create a unique drag persona.

For hygiene purposes, we ask that participants bring their own makeup (foundation, blush, contour, lipstick. The AGA will supply some face paint, sponges, brushes, and other supplies for the workshop.

The workshop will be followed by a drag performance in our Ledcor Theater and a film screening of “Ladies as Gentlemen: Drag Kings on Tour”.
