Bios

The New Haunts are an unconventional mix of guitar riffs, ambient textures, catchy melodies, and detailed drumming. Their efforts produce music that is truly original, combining influences from each member’s eclectic tastes and musicalities. The music is honest, inventive, and attempts to connect with the listener on a thoughtful and emotional level. They are truly a unique act.

Nick Martin has been a vocal and physical presence on the Edmonton music scene for years.

No one really noticed.

Then he got a grant and recorded an album. An album that he wanted to demonstrate his strengths, his depth as a vocalist and his imagination as a songwriter.

Stew Kirkwood, of Sound Extractor studios, took those songs and expanded them into the strongest pop songs that have emerged from Edmonton.

When you listen to Mild Barbarians you're entranced. You recognize these songs, yet you've never heard anything like them before. The melodies are inviting and familiar, yet catchy and engaging in a fresh and exciting way.

Do you like rock? Soul? Pop? Everything in between those thick layers of genre definition? Mild Barbarians firmly implants their footprint on these worlds, crushing those beneath their soles and making the world their own.
