Girls painting outside
A four day camp for ages 6–8 and 9–12.

Generate, re-use, recycle and repurpose to make your own green environment. Visit the Peter von Tiessenhausen exhibition and investigate natural and industrial materials. Experience various ecosystems at the Muttart Conservatory to inspire your own vision of a sustainable world. Make 2D paintings and drawings and 3D projects, such as plywood, clay and wire sculptures, by applying building, printmaking and collage techniques.

Joyce has been an engaged educator for more than a decade. Initially she studied Business Management and later received her Master’s degree in Sociology. She speaks four languages and is passionate about meeting and chatting with people from different backgrounds. As an art educator at the AGA, she loves helping children, teens and adults find their inner artist. She enjoys helping people learn more about artists and their work so that they create their own unique artwork. Joyce thinks the most important thing at any given workshop is for everyone to have fun!

Terrena has a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and her Fine Art diploma from Grant MacEwan, and has been working with the AGA as an art educator since the fall of 2015. She finds it inspiring to work in a place that is constantly immersed in creativity. Inside the AGA, she teaches with the strong belief of embracing curiousity and taking chances. She believes that is important for students to not be afraid of what they don’t know. For Terrena, introducing young people to the many things art offers is incredibly important, and seeing the artwork that emerges from her time in the studio with students is not only rewarding, but one of her favourite parts about the AGA.
