Join us for an all day celebration of the vibrant colours, folklore and spirituality radiating from our two current exhibitions Goddesses of Creation and Vision Exchange: Perspectives from India to Canada. During our upcoming BMO All Day Sunday, we invite you to enjoy an all day Rangoli design performance in the Atrium of the gallery, in addition to the family friendly and educational activities organized all day. Taking her inspiration from the traditional Hindu sacred sculptures on display in Goddesses of Creation, community member Ramya Mohan will create a unique floor pattern and design using coloured dried rice flour, stones and flower petals to bring and share auspicious wishes of good luck and prosperity to visitors entering the gallery. Traditionally created by women early in the morning, this practice is showcased during special occasions, milestones and gatherings. Support Ramya and the South Asian community in keeping this art form and tradition alive by observing this ancestral practice, interacting with our guest artist throughout the day, and visiting our current exhibitions. |
