The third Friday of each month, the Art Gallery of Alberta is the after-work place to be!

Listen to emerging and established musical acts and enjoy Zinc's special menu, cocktails, beer and wine. Art activities round out the evening and gallery exhibitions are open late.

This month we'll feature the fiery blues, smoky Parisian jazz and southern soul of Miss Rae & The Midnight Ramblers.

"Miss Rae has pursued other careers but she always comes back to music. You’ll be glad she did when you hear her unfettered vocal powers honed with a touch of sass and sensitivity." - Roger Levesque (Edmonton Journal)

Take a trip back in musical time with Miss Rae & the Midnight Ramblers, as their throwback sound sweeps you up into a flurry of Fiery Blues, Smoky Parisian Jazz and Southern Soul. Before stepping behind the microphone, Cheyenne Rae formerly photographed musicians for magazines and was an aspiring filmmaker. She eventually found her voice as a Blues frontwoman at age 21, blossoming into a powerhouse who belts out songs as though every performance is her last.

For nearly two years, Miss Rae lived in Paris, France, singing in Cafés, Clubs and Métro stations. Returning to her hometown of Edmonton in 2016, she selected local experienced players to reprise The Midnight Ramblers. Upon receiving a grant from the Edmonton Arts Council, Miss Rae collaborated with Warren Chan to write her sophomore album. During the span of 3 days, the 7 piece ensemble recorded live off the floor onto analogue with co-producer Barry Allen of Homestead Recorders, and Wild Rose was released in June 2018. Miss Rae is an old soul at 27, as her honeyed voice embodies the spirit of her Métis and African roots. She has been compared to the likes of Etta James and Amy Winehouse.

The Midnight Ramblers feature: Clayton Sample (guitar), Zander (guitar), Grant Stovel (drums), Chris Grapel (upright bass) and Septimus Alexander (tenor saxophone).
