Hello, My Name is Art | Sobey Art Award Exhibition

Programming & Engagement Coordinator, Elisabeth Hill, with Anne Low's Rose.Cards. 2018–19. Calcium carbonate and hide-glue composite, paint, wood, cotton-rag paper, chalk, clay, pigment, acrylic binder, tissue paper, handwoven silk, found upholstery tacks. Courtesy the artist.

Hello, My Name is Art is a program focused on close looking and collaborative learning. Getting to know a work of art is like getting to know a new friend – sometimes it is love at first sight and sometimes it takes time, the right questions and a little bit of patience to understand one another. Spend time getting to know one artwork in hour-long introductory sessions with AGA staff. Learn how to improve your looking skills and what questions to ask of any artwork and of yourself.

In this special edition of Hello, My Name is Art you will get to know artworks by the five artists shortlisted for the biggest art award in Canada: the Sobey Art Award. Our Programming & Engagement Coordinator, Elisabeth Hill, will lead a discussion to share and learn about the variety of contemporary art practices, offering a closer look at work by some of the top young artists in Canada. We ask the question: Who do you think will win the big prize on November 15
