Warm up the start of your weekend with live music, tapas and drinks at the Art Gallery of Alberta. On April 20, come enjoy live music from Darren Frank with Bart. Plus take part in a fun art activity.

Bios

Bart is a solo project by Nathaniel Wong from the Edmonton based band Yes Nice.

With a sound once described as 'built of both stone and light,' Darren Frank has discovered his voice, so soulful and inviting, you may as well take off your jacket and stay a while. His knack for melody is buoyed by warm, discerning arrangements and a refreshingly assured delivery. These are psych-soul-hymns, and he wants to share them with you.

Things started in 2008, with the release of the Coal To Diamond EP, an eclectic and engaging affair which received some nice reviews and put Frank on the radar.

March 2010 saw the completion of his first full length album entitled That Lived-In Look. Recorded at the Physics Lab (Edmonton AB) with engineer/producer Terry Paholek, this bold and diverse project was Frank's inevitable next step, musically speaking.

A few years ago, he took some time away from his own project to join the group Yes Nice. In 2013, the band made a fine record, Warm Gun, and toured across the country in support playing festivals such as Squamish Live (Squamish BC) and Folk on the Rocks (Yellowknife NWT).

Frank is currently at work on a project that will soon see the first release of a series of A/B side singles. It will be called In Two.

Darren has been asked to share the stage with Chad VanGaalen, Frank Black, Destroyer, Brett Dennen, Adrian Belew and has showcased at such festivals as Sled Island (Calgary AB), New Music West, WCMA's, and CMW (Toronto ON).
