The Art Gallery of Alberta respectfully acknowledges that we are located in Treaty 6 Territory and Region 4 of the Metis Nation of Alberta. We respect this as the traditional and contemporary  land of diverse Indigenous Peoples including the Plains Cree, Woodland Cree, Beaver Cree, Nitsitapi/Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Anishinaabe/Saulteaux/Ojibwe and Dene Peoples. We also acknowledge the many Indigenous, Inuit and Métis people who make Alberta their home today.

This evening we are thrilled to welcome Colonialism Skateboards founder Micheal Langan, to lead our second community tour of Boarder X

Micheal is a Saulteaux artist from Cote First Nation, Treaty 4 Territory, who is committed to educating people through creative and haunting renderings of our colonial past. In summer 2015 he launched his own skateboard company—Colonialism Skateboards—to draw attention to, and have people engage with, complex and telling aspects of Indigenous Canadian history and culture.

Recently Colonialism Skateboards collaborated with artist Kent Monkman on a series of skateboard decks that are featured in Boarder X.
