Gold is a precious metal that is associated with wealth, grandeur and prosperity. It’s a warm colour that can be either bright and cheerful or somber and traditional.
Join us for the first 2020 edition of Art for Lunch as Gallery Attendant Mikayla Grove takes us on a journey through history, analyzing the beauty and functionality of gold. From inlaid masks of Egyptian Pharaohs, mosaics of Byzantine churches, gilded icons of the Orthodox Church and modern artists such as Gustav Klimt, together we will witness the evolution of gold as a medium connecting mortality with the sacred and divine.
