Whether or not it’s a dark and stormy night, All Hallows' Eve at your AGA will be the place for vintage chills and thrills. Halloween is taking over the gallery and ghosts and ghouls, witches and skeletons, and all things that go bump in the night are coming out to play.

Inspired by B movies and black and white cartoons, this Halloween party is all about the classics: glowing jack-o-lanterns, frolicking skeletons, spiders and bats and bedsheet ghosts.

Practice your skeleton dance, pull a classic costume out of the crypt and join us for a night of treats and tricks at All Hallows' Eve.

Bios

Charles Cousins is a designer, artist, DJ, and composer who has been performing since the 80s. His sets blend genres from disco, electropop, 90s hip hop, various flavours of trance and EDM, with a focus on retro sounds from Depeche Mode to Deadmau5 and Grandmaster Flash to Run DMC. He plays familiar music with more than a few surprises thrown in!

Artist Jill Stanton

Jill Stanton is a muralist and artist based in Edmonton. Her work strikes a balance between careful planning and site-sensitive improvisation, resulting in pieces that are tailor-made for their environments.

Jill's murals have been featured in the City of Victoria's 2018 Concrete Canvas Project, the 2018 BUMP festival in Calgary, the 2017 Vancouver Mural Festival, the 2017 Wall-to-Wall Mural Festival in Winnipeg, the 2015 Alberta Biennial of Contemporary Art, as well as several private and public mural commissions across Canada.

Christian Denis is an Edmonton native.  He has always been interested in playing with impermanent media and in 2012 he took it to another level and made it a focal point in his life.  Beginning with snow and ice sculpture during the winter season, he soon transitioned to sand sculpture, straw bale sculpture and eventually fire sculpture. It was only natural that Halloween would present another sculpture opportunity, and he now has several years’ experience playing with all variety of squash.

Artist Statement

Everything is impermanent. For me, it’s all about the process; from the birth of a creation, to its transformation throughout its existence, to its final destruction. Working with impermanent materials and media such as snow, ice, sand, fire and produce allows me to experience the full life cycle and forces me to say goodbye, which then in turn makes room for a new creation to start all over.
