Sunday, August 13, 12 pm – 4 pm Education Studios

Expand your experience of Tamara Lee-Anne Cardinal’s Akhop: A Blanket, as featured in for the time being: 2017 Alberta Biennial of Contemporary Art. Learn about the sacred medicines and family gifts Cardinal used to hand-make her paper. Guided by Cardinal, create your own paper-based art project, and consider what feelings, teachings, and meanings you want your work to carry. Bring your own dried plant materials to add to your art.

Storytelling Workshop with Marigold Santos
Tuesday, August 15, 6 pm In-Gallery for the time being: 2017 Alberta Biennial of Contemporary Art

Marigold Santos will discuss how her personal experience of immigration to Canada and the folklore she brought with her from the Philippines has informed the work she creates, exploring notions of identity and mythology. This family-friendly workshop will also invite participants to share their own experiences of immigration and the stories and folklore important to their heritage.

Summer ArtBreak camps
August 9 am–4 pm

Cultivate your creative talents and enhance your artistic literacy with one of your AGA’s summer ArtBreak camps! Designed especially for students aged 6–12, ArtBreak weekly day camps run throughout August. Each week features a new theme aimed to connect students with art and ideas.
