The Art Gallery of Alberta respectfully acknowledges that we are located in Treaty 6 Territory and Region 4 of the Metis Nation of Alberta. We respect this as the traditional and contemporary  land of diverse Indigenous Peoples including the Plains Cree, Woodland Cree, Beaver Cree, Nitsitapi/Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Anishinaabe/Saulteaux/Ojibwe and Dene Peoples. We also acknowledge the many Indigenous, Inuit and Métis people who make Alberta their home today.

Utopian/Dystopian Edmonton

What do you think Edmonton will look like in the future? Taking inspiration from Kelly Richardson’s dystopic “Mariner 9”, featured in Turbulent Landings: The NGC 2017 Canadian Biennial, we invite you to turn Edmonton cityscapes into visions of utopian or dystopian futures. Use an app; we recommend a free application such as Mixtures, Photo Lab, Color Pop Effects, Prisma, or Pic Collage, to manipulate and alter a photo or video. Apply an effect or add a filter to bring your alternate version of Edmonton to life!

Post your photos on Instagram or Twitter and use the hashtag #AGAyegtopia. Each month we will feature amazing utopias and dystopias on our @youraga social media accounts.
