The Art Gallery of Alberta respectfully acknowledges that we are located in Treaty 6 Territory and Region 4 of the Metis Nation of Alberta. We respect this as the traditional and contemporary  land of diverse Indigenous Peoples including the Plains Cree, Woodland Cree, Beaver Cree, Nitsitapi/Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Anishinaabe/Saulteaux/Ojibwe and Dene Peoples. We also acknowledge the many Indigenous, Inuit and Métis people who make Alberta their home today.

As part of ongoing community outreach and in-gallery interpretive initiatives, the Art Gallery of Alberta is producing a podcast series titled In Conversation. This podcast is designed to complement the content of AGA exhibitions by providing listeners with interviews from exhibiting AGA artists and other creative professionals. The AGA’s in-gallery interpretive activities have been enthusiastically received and In Conversation will continue to capture the public’s interest by offering engaging original content on publicly-available podcast platforms. The podcast enhances the gallery experience by expanding upon an exhibition’s themes, providing listeners with information directly from the artist. Episodes of the podcast series will be produced in conjunction with new exhibitions.

In this latest episode of “In Conversation”, Guest Curators Amy Malbeuf and Jessie Ray Short discuss the process of curating “Li Salay”, the exhibition’s significance and the shifting boundaries of contemporary Métis artistic practices.
