The Art Gallery of Alberta respectfully acknowledges that we are located in Treaty 6 Territory and Region 4 of the Metis Nation of Alberta. We respect this as the traditional and contemporary  land of diverse Indigenous Peoples including the Plains Cree, Woodland Cree, Beaver Cree, Nitsitapi/Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Anishinaabe/Saulteaux/Ojibwe and Dene Peoples. Community Gallery: Call for Submissions

FacebookTwitterPinterestShare

The Community Exhibition Program connects the Art Gallery of Alberta with community groups in the Edmonton area who are interested in curating small exhibitions and are in need of a venue. The program is undertaken in a spirit of collaboration, openness and knowledge sharing. The space features up to three exhibitions per year on display for approximately one month at a time.

Previous Community Exhibition partners include: the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, the Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services, the Alberta Council for the Ukrainian Arts, ‘5 Artists, 1 Love,’ and Leduc Composite High School.

The AGA’s Public Programs and Outreach Coordinator will provide selected community groups with guidance and advice, as needed, regarding the curatorial process, as well as support for the installation and strike of the exhibition. The AGA will also provide a space for an opening reception. For more information on the roles and responsibilities of the exhibiting community and the AGA, please contact the Public Programs and Outreach Coordinator through josee.blouin@youraga.ca.

To qualify, organizations must be non-profits working within the Edmonton area. This program is reserved for community outreach groups. Submissions from individual artists will not be accepted.

If you are interested please send in the following details:

  • Information about your group (name of organization, contact information including the name, e-mail address and phone number for a primary contact, organization mandate or mission, etc.)
  • A general theme for the exhibition
  • Number and list of exhibition artists or artworks, if available
  • Preferred month for exhibition

We are now accepting submissions for the 2019 exhibition schedule until August 10, 2018. Please submit your proposal to josee.blouin@youraga.ca with the subject line ‘Community Gallery Submission’. Only those selected for an exhibition will be contacted. The next submission deadline for the 2020 exhibition schedule will be in spring of 2019.
