The Art Gallery of Alberta respectfully acknowledges that we are located in Treaty 6 Territory and Region 4 of the Metis Nation of Alberta. We respect this as the traditional and contemporary  land of diverse Indigenous Peoples including the Plains Cree, Woodland Cree, Beaver Cree, Nitsitapi/Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Anishinaabe/Saulteaux/Ojibwe and Dene Peoples. We also acknowledge the many Indigenous, Inuit and Métis people who make Alberta their home today.

Contest alert!

Think you know your heavy metal band logos? Find out in our contest.

For the next six weeks, every Tuesday and Thursday at 3 pm we will post one of the shapes found in Dean Drever’s “Black Metal” (2011), now on display in “WordMark: A New Chapter Acquisition Project” until March 25, 2018.

The first person to correctly identify the band logo pictured will be entered to win this heavy metal prize pack from Blackbyrd Myoozik.

Don’t worry—if someone’s already answered correctly you can still be entered to win by tagging your favourite music loving friend in the comments/replies.

We will draw randomly from all the entries on all three platforms (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) to choose a winner in late February. Be ready Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3pm sharp!
