Join Catherine Crowston, Executive Director and Chief Curator of the AGA, for the launch of Hello, My Name is Art – a new program focused on close looking and collaborative learning. Getting to know a work of art is like getting to know a new friend – sometimes it is love at first sight and sometimes it takes time, the right questions and a little bit of patience to understand one another. Spend time getting to know one artwork in hour long introductory sessions with AGA staff. Learn how to improve your looking skills and what questions to ask of any artwork and of yourself.

This week we invite you to join us in watching John Akomfrah’s, Vertigo Sea, 2015, from start to finish (48 minutes). We’ll follow up on our viewing session with a conversation about Akomfrah’s wide-ranging references to art history, literature, and climate change in this powerful work about mankind’s conflictual relationships with each other and the environment.
