Julian Faid with Nicoll artwork   Nicoll artwork "January"

“January by Marion Nicoll struck me as a beautiful combination of things that I love. First, its clean aesthetic and simple colours would fit in well with my preferred mid century modern decor. Second, it reminds me of Edmonton's embrace of the winter months that, when given the chance, can be truly spectacular and enjoyable. Simple and effective, the woodcut print also provides a wonderful natural texture, giving the piece even more depth when viewed up close. This piece, like the city I call home, only shows its full beauty to those willing to invest the time.”

Julian Faid has been improvising with Rapid Fire Theatre for over 16 years. He has appeared in improv festivals in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Seattle, Toronto, Vancouver, Winnipeg and even Regina. He has also represented Alberta at the Smithsonian Folk Life Festival in Washington DC and was nominated for a New Zealand Comedy festival "Best Show" award. He is also the co-creator of TEDxRFT, the improvised Ted Talk, which won “Best of The Fest” at the Vancouver International Improv Festival 2015.

Faid works at the Alberta School of Business as a Marketing and Communications Associate, while also studying to complete his MSc in Resource Economics and Environmental Sociology within the Faculty of Agriculture, Life and Environmental Sciences at the U of A.
