"I grew up in Central Alberta where we marked time by what the fields were doing. Summers smelled of flowering canola fields and that blazing yellow against that open blue sky is home for me. Living in Northern Alberta now, where I'm surrounded by dense Boreal Forest, I have a real longing for those expansive open fields of gold. Sylvain Voyer's paintings allow me to be transported to them again, they have everything but the smell."

Erin Schwab was born in Morinville, Alberta in 1981. She holds a BFA from Alberta College of Art and Design and graduated with distinction in 2006 from the University of Alberta’s MFA program in Drawing, where she focused her research on filtering the language of traditional botanical illustration and ceramics through the dialogue of contemporary drawing. Recent Exhibitions include Migrating Colony: Flood at Line Gallery in 2014 and Future Station: 2015 Biennial of Contemporary Art at The Art Gallery of Alberta.

Schwab currently teaches in the Art and Design program at Keyano College in Fort McMurray, where she dedicates her time to the development of arts and culture in the region through her participation with the Arts Council Wood Buffalo, Arts Advisory Board for the Alberta Legislative Assembly, and the K-12 Curriculum Development Committee for the Government of Alberta.
