Opening Party: Sobey Art Award Exhibition

Join us for the Sobey Art Award Exhibition Opening Party. 

The Sobey Art Award is recognized as the pre-eminent prize for Canadian artists 40 and under and we are proud to showcase the works of the five 2019 short-listed artists. Come celebrate some of this country’s most exciting young artists!

7:30pm Welcoming remarks
7:50-10:30pm Tour the Sobey Art Award Exhibition, The AGA galleries and enjoy the cash bar, appetizers and music by DJ Text Chunk.

The Sobey Art Award Exhibition is organized by the National Gallery of Canada and the Sobey Art Foundation in collaboration with the Art Gallery of Alberta. Curated by Lindsey Sharman.

Text Chunk is the main project from the Canadian-based producer & Kudatah label founder, Brandon Smith. Smith’s latest work contorts all manners of uptempo leftfield dance, juke and retro-breakbeat sounds into freakish, entrancing & jaw-clenching club cuts.
