The Art Gallery of Alberta respectfully acknowledges that we are located in Treaty 6 Territory and Region 4 of the Metis Nation of Alberta. We respect this as the traditional and contemporary  land of diverse Indigenous Peoples including the Plains Cree, Woodland Cree, Beaver Cree, Nitsitapi/Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Anishinaabe/Saulteaux/Ojibwe and Dene Peoples. We also acknowledge the many Indigenous, Inuit and Métis people who make Alberta their home today.

Walking Tour with Tiffany Shaw-Collinge

#tour
Starting in our current exhibition the Scene, Tiffany will lead a small group of people through downtown Edmonton to the site of their new public artwork "family pattern" at Kinistinâw Park (10249 96 St). At the same time, they will speak about their recent artwork, process and inspiration behind their interdisciplinary art and architectural practice.

This walking tour is part of the public program for the exhibition 'The Scene' at the AGA, curated by Lindsey Sharman and Danielle Siemens. 'The Scene' celebrates what's happening in art right now in Edmonton. This exhibition presents exciting and experimental work from artists based in or closely connected to Edmonton. The Scene puts the spotlight on emerging to mid-career practices while presenting a cross-section of the city's art scene. Oscillating between digital and analogue methodologies Tiffany’s work gathers notions of craft, memory and atmosphere. Her practice is often guided by communal interventions as a way to engage a lifted understanding of place. While born in Calgary and raised in Edmonton, Tiffany’s Métis lineage derives from Fort McMurray via Fort McKay and the Red River.

Due to the nature of this outdoor program and the ongoing pandemic, we will limit registration following the current health and safety guidelines while following social distancing and sanitization recommendations.

This program will also be filmed and will be shared later for people who cannot attend in person.
