The Art Gallery of Alberta respectfully acknowledges that we are located in Treaty 6 Territory and Region 4 of the Metis Nation of Alberta. We respect this as the traditional and contemporary  land of diverse Indigenous Peoples including the Plains Cree, Woodland Cree, Beaver Cree, Nitsitapi/Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Anishinaabe/Saulteaux/Ojibwe and Dene Peoples. We also acknowledge the many Indigenous, Inuit and Métis people who make Alberta their home today.

My name is Samuel J. Mensah; most people call me Samjay. I was born in Sierra Leone but grew up in Ghana. I am a music producer, photographer, videographer and graphics designer. I have a real passion for learning and creating new things. Throughout the years, I’ve learned different skills and managed to create a business around everything I do. I’ve worked with people locally and internationally. I have also been active in community development by mentoring youths, teaching them skills, even providing them with a safe space to be creative and expressive.

My goal for the year 2020 is to expand my creative business and create a one-stop-shop for clients — furthermore, a space for other creators to work and connect. I also want to expand my community development work by reaching more youth and teaching them skills while also keeping them in a business environment. I believe in youth empowerment and that by supporting them in the best way I can, they’ll stay focused and earn from assisting with various creative sets and also earn from working directly with my clients.
