Ryland Fortie is from Kamloops BC, but after walking the Camino de Santiago across Spain in late 2017, he landed in Edmonton where he now works in Sculpture, painting, and film making. He is a founding member of Big Screen Artist Studio in North Edmonton and can often be seen zooming around Highlands on his red bicycle. Since being in Edmonton, Fortie has shown his work in Calgary at the Art Commons, has a public sculpture in the St. Albert Botanical Garden, and is showing new Work at Lowlands Projects this May.
The Art Gallery of Alberta respectfully acknowledges that we are located in Treaty 6 Territory, the traditional land of diverse Indigenous Peoples including the Plains Cree, Woodland Cree, Beaver Cree, Nitsitapi/Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Anishinaabe/Saulteaux/Ojibwe and Dene Peoples. We also acknowledge the many Indigenous, Inuit and Métis people who make Alberta their home today.
