Marty Pawlina is a singer/songwriter living in Edmonton, Alberta and performing around Canada.
He writes music of all genres for himself and for other performing musicians. Professionally trained as a vocalist and guitar player, Marty evolved as an artist by co-writing songs with other award-winning musicians, something that has inspired and shaped his craft. Marty lives to perform, most recently completing a Western Canadian tour titled Wanderlust in support of his full-length album Old Fire, New Flame produced by Louis Sedmak (Ian Tyson, Rob Heath, Chloe Albert, Duane Steele, Alfie Zappacosta).
Marty has had radio play in over 60 countries, which is a bit of a testament to his love of visiting other cultures and sharing his music everywhere he goes. The song Didn't I which he co-wrote with Rob Heath and Spencer Heath charted #1 in 2017 on Americana radio in South Carolina.
That year also brought the release of a folk single titled Someone Else's Song. It was a new take on a traditional approach to writing folk music, a song he would write, and re-write, then later write again over most of the year. This is one of the best examples of Marty's dedication to precise lyric, meticulously crafted melody and unique perspective. The live off the floor music video was produced by Ken Stead, then recorded and mixed by producer Miles Wilkinson an award-winning Engineer with a history of working on projects for Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt and the Waylon Jennings. The video has been viewed and shared over 13,000 times since its release.
Marty has recently begun working with producer Brad Simons of Edmonton's Velveteen Audio and released the first single of the project, Every Promise in Every Kiss in March 2018. Inspired by the rock ballads of Ryan Adams and the emotive storytelling of Ray LaMontange, he is starting an adventure into driven grit keys and guitars.
Seeing Marty play at local open mic's is commonplace in Edmonton, and he's been a regular on the scene for over a decade. There is a natural warmth and ease to his stage presence, performing and sharing his art is one of his favourite things to do. To quote a passerby who stopped in to listen to his set He's the best musician no one's ever heard of.
