Kelsey Vaughan an emerging artist from the Edmonton area. She has recently returned home after receiving her Bachelors in Fine Arts in 2018 from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University or NSCAD University. Kelsey spent two years on the east coast gaining a new perspective on Canadian culture and art.
Kelsey considers herself a figure painter who explores the formal qualities of layering images of the female form. These explorations create an abstract figure-ground relationship and challenge the viewer. Each figure is treated with personalized respect and approached while keeping in tune with the field of the entire painting. The women are approached as personalized figures; however, the painting is approached as an abstract work.
