CALGARY, AB | Jean-Claude & Talar are self-taught woodworkers who have been practicing their craft professionally for over 35 years. Receiving hundreds of commissions, from historical reproductions to contemporary studio furniture, they have acquired a broad range of woodworking and design skills. A distinctive aspect of their work is the use of marquetry, an ancient art form, which injects beauty and imparts visual interest. Nature is their preferred subject matter.
One notable commission they have received was for the design and construction of the current Alberta Vice-Regal chair. Additionally, Alberta Foundation for the Arts has acquired one of their boxes for their collection.
