The Art Gallery of Alberta respectfully acknowledges that we are located in Treaty 6 Territory and Region 4 of the Metis Nation of Alberta. We respect this as the traditional and contemporary  land of diverse Indigenous Peoples including the Plains Cree, Woodland Cree, Beaver Cree, Nitsitapi/Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Anishinaabe/Saulteaux/Ojibwe and Dene Peoples. We also acknowledge the many Indigenous, Inuit and Métis people who make Alberta their home today.

Good Women Dance Collective

Good Women Dance Collective (GWDC) is a creation-based company committed to supporting a vibrant and sustainable contemporary dance community in Edmonton since 2009. The collective’s artistic focus is on creating and producing innovative new works that simultaneously challenge and expand their audience. GWDC also dedicates a large part of its season toward partnering with local organizations to offer performance, education, and professional development opportunities to artists working in Edmonton. Current artistic members Ainsley Hillyard, Alison Kause, Alida Kendell and Kate Stashko have trained across Canada, the US, and Europe, and are passionate about making contemporary dance more accessible to the general public.

Good Women’s performance at Refinery will feature Ainsley Hillyard, Alison Kause, and Bridget Jessome.

Refinery Performance

The anti-hero, the femme fatale and the red herring: wind your way around the curves and corners of the AGA, following these iconic noir tropes and piecing together a spine tingling mystery. Using abstracted narrative and contemporary movement scores, the Good Women Dance Collective will light your imagination on fire with some good old fashioned intrigue interpreted in a brand new way.
