The Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) is seeking an enthusiastic and highly organized individual to join its Marketing and Communications team as a Social and Digital Media Coordinator. This dynamic position contributes to the AGA strategic marketing and communications plans that support institutional goals, increase visitation to the AGA and grow audiences for the AGA’s exhibition, education, programs, events and retail services.
The Social and Digital Media Coordinator works to expand AGA's brand visibility and audience engagement locally, in Western Canada and across the nation through social media, digital marketing, email marketing, websites, blogs, influencer and partnership marketing. Collaborating with the AGA marketing team, internal colleagues and external partners, the Social and Digital Media Coordinator builds an engaged community of bloggers, influencers, stakeholders and visitors for elevating the AGA brand and promoting the AGA exhibitions, education, programs, events and retail services. This position is also responsible for social media listening, website and TNEW support, writing and content development to elevate the AGA brand.
A team player and collaborator, the Social and Digital Media Coordinator brings creativity, resourcefulness and a positive attitude to the AGA. Working with AGA departments and external marketing partners, the Social and Digital Media Coordinator takes initiative and tackles urgent requests while balancing long term goals and projects.
Qualifications
- A post-secondary diploma or degree, preferably in marketing, communications or arts administration
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role; experience in a cultural institution or a marketing agency an asset
- Experience in developing digital campaigns, creating content and managing various social media platforms, including listening, monitoring, activating, measuring and analyzing campaign results, content and activities
- Experience in search engine optimization, search engine marketing and Google Ads, tag manger, alerts and analytics
- Experience in various marketing and communications initiatives, including owned and earned media activities, influencer marketing, brand journalism, storytelling, digital promotions (inclusive of WordFly or other similar email marketing tools), advertising, etc.
- Skilled in Drupal, WordPress or other web content management system, including HTML/CSS
- Proficient with a variety of software and digital applications, including but not limited to Microsoft/Windows applications (such as Teams, SharePoint, One Drive, Office applications); Google cloud-based documents, Zoom, Canva, Adobe, Grammarly
- Demonstrable high proficiency in writing for various audiences and platforms, with excellent editing and proofreading skills.
- A collaborator with strong relationship-building and consultation skills
- Excellent organization, time management and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Keen attention to detail with a proven history of meeting targets and deadlines
- Strong interest in the visual arts, knowledge of art history or experience working or volunteering in the arts an asset
