Call for Submission: Laberinto Press Book Cover Design Competition

The Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) is partnering with Laberinto Press to find their next book cover artist! This art competition is open to artists ages 4-7 and includes a spot in an upcoming juried exhibition in the TD Education Gallery in April 2023. The selected winner will receive a prize courtesy of the AGA and their artwork will be featured on the front cover of Laberinto Press’ upcoming anthology Beyond the Park to be published in 2024. 

Theme: Parks and Green spaces 

What parks and green spaces do you love? What do they look like? Smell like? What kinds of sounds do you hear and what textures do you feel? Use your senses and painted collage materials to create a unique artwork that best captures your favorite park. 

Competition Details 

Artworks must be: 

  1. Original work related to the theme 

  1. Created by an artist aged 4-7 

  1. Sized between 8” x 10” and 11” x 14” and clearly labeled on the back with the artist’s name, guardian’s name and contact information 

  1. Made from non-perishable materials 

  1. Submitted between March 1-15 to qualify for the competition 

How to Enter

Drop off, or mail your artwork along with the completed and signed waiver to:

*Please include a self-addressed (with postage) envelope if you would like your artwork returned.

Deadline: Please ensure your submission arrives at the AGA between March 1-15, 2023. 

The AGA retains the right to refuse any submission that is deemed primarily commercial in its intent, offensive and/or dangerous. By entering the competition, the applicant agrees to and acknowledges all rules and conditions.

April 20, 2023 | Evening reception and winner announcement between 5-7 pm
