Art Gallery of Alberta

Visitor Guidelines

Our commitment is to provide the best possible AGA experience. When visiting, help us protect the works of art work by adhering to the following guidelines.

Proximity to Artwork

Artworks are fragile, so please do not touch them.  Please keep a minimum distance of half an arm’s length between yourself and all works of art.

Backpacks, umbrellas, musical instruments and other large items are not permitted in exhibition spaces. Please note that there is limited storage space available at the Gallery.

Coin operated lockers are available in the Coat Check room on the Main Level.

Cell Phones

Please turn off your cell phone ringers while in the exhibition spaces, and step outside of the exhibition space when speaking on your cell phone.

Food and Drink

Due to risk posed to works of art, food and drink are not allowed in exhibition spaces.

Strollers are permitted in exhibition spaces. During exceptionally busy days, visitors may be asked to leave their stroller in the coat check.

The Gallery is wheelchair accessible, including elevator access to the L2 LRT level and L1 Theatre and Singhmar Centre for Education. Wheelchairs are available free of charge, though limited quantities are available.

Aides accompanying a person with disabilities are given complimentary admission to the Gallery.

AGA guests are welcome to take photographs in exhibition spaces for personal use or for sharing via social media except where signage states it is not allowed. Professional photography and the use of tripods and flashes are not permitted in exhibition spaces.

Formal group photography sessions are only permitted in public spaces of the Gallery and only to those with either a booked event occurring at the AGA or a photo session agreement.
